At the Amen Clinics, we do not take a one-size-fits-all cookie-cutter approach to treatment something that is unfortunately far too common in the mental health field. Instead, we treat each patient as an individual. We use a comprehensive approach to understand our patients and create targeted treatment plans based on their individual brain and unique situation.

A good way to begin is to have a phone conversation with one of our patient care coordinators. During this conversation, we will give you information about our policies, procedures, and the evaluation process. We will also provide information about SPECT imaging, follow-up treatment, and available pricing/payment options.

Most importantly, this conversation will help you determine whether an evaluation with the Amen Clinics is appropriate for your specific situation. In some cases, following this conversation, we may recommend a brief phone consultation with one of our psychiatrists or physician’s assistants prior to making the final decision to proceed with an evaluation at Amen Clinics.

Tim Earnest, M.D. Psychiatrist
Dr. Tim Earnest is a board certified adult psychiatrist, and was trained and served as chief resident in child and adolescent psychiatry. He was born and raised in Spokane, WA. He then attended Gonzaga University, and subsequently studied medicine in Houston, TX. In 1993 he graduated from Baylor College of Medicine, and returned to Washington State where he completed his adult psychiatric residency at UW, and pediatric psychiatric residency at Children’s in 1998. He has worked in private practice, hospitals, a community mental health center, and most recently in multispecialty pediatric clinics.Dr. Earnest’s work with children, adolescents, adults, and families focuses on accurate assessment of difficulties as well as strengths. He also intervenes with consideration of prescription medications, medical and nutrition interventions, and containment and removal of bodily toxins. He also considers interventions such as exercise, prayer, yoga, meditation, martial arts, and enhancement of social supports key not only to healing but also continued health. He specializes in: Impulse control disorders, ADHD and conduct disorder, pervasive developmental disorders, depressive disorders, eating disorders, and anxiety disorders. Dr. Earnest looks forward to helping patients and families remove the negative intensities in their lives, and celebrate the positive intensities that make them successful.

Rumen Slavkov, M.D. Psychiatrist
Dr. Slavkov was born in Bulgaria. He was raised in Czech Republic, where he graduated from the Medical Faculty of Charles University in 1982. After serving military service and physician placement in Bulgaria, he immigrated to Canada in 1988. Dr. Slavkov completed his psychiatry residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, and subsequently at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY, in 1998. He completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY, in 2000. Dr. Slavkov completed his second fellowship in Infant Psychiatry at Tulane University in New Orleans in 2008.Dr. Slavkov worked in private practice as a psychiatric consultant to a pain management clinic in Libertyville, IL, from 2001 to 2007. After completing his Infant Psychiatry fellowship, he worked as an Infant, Child & Adolescent and Adult psychiatrist at Sinnissippi Centers in Dixon, IL, and at Regional Mental Health Center in East Chicago, IN, until April, 2010.

Anthony Andrew Bottone, M.D. Psychiatrist
Dr. Anthony Bottone is board certified in both general child and adolescent psychiatry. In 1996 he obtained additional qualification in geriatric psychiatry. He graduated from the State University of New York medical school in Brooklyn in 1966 and trained in psychiatry at NYU-Bellevue Medical Center and in child-adolescent psychiatry at the University of PennsylvaniaPhiladelphia Child Guidance Center, where he worked with Salvador Minuchin, MD. Dr. Bottone has also done postgraduate education in the history of medicine at the University of California San Francisco with Professors John De CM Saunders, Chauncy Leake and Ilsa Veith.His clinical work has been in private practice and later locum psychiatry throughout the country and at the Wellington Hospital and Medical School in New Zealand. He helped his friend and former roommate, the late Dr. David Viscott, establish the first Viscott Institute in California. Recently, he was the chair of psychiatry at the Commonwealth Health Center in the Northern Mariana Islands, an American overseas territory in the South Pacific. While there he lectured extensively and provided training for health and school professionals as well as state officials. In 2001 he identified an unrecognized suicide epidemic and initiated a successful suicide prevention program, for which he was awarded the 2003 Governor’s Humanities Award for Teaching Human Values. In 2005 Dr. Bottone returned to Washington State, where he resides with his wife and son. His clinical practice is open to all ages, but focuses on children and adolescents with complex cross-cultural, diagnostic and treatment needs. Just prior to joining the Amen Clinic Northwest in 2006, he worked as a child-adolescent psychiatrist at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

Holly Halweg, M.Ed. Clinic Manager
Holly has been with the Amen Clinics since 2009. She has been a Patient Care Coordinator and National Trainer in our Newport Beach office. She is now in the Bellevue, WA clinic as the Clinic Manager. She is currently a student at the University of Washington working on a Master of Healthcare Administration degree. She graduated previously from California Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and continued on to earn a Master of Education degree as well. In her free time Holly enjoys yoga, scrapbooking, playing piano and handbells, singing, and snow skiing. Lisa Dean, MFTA Child and Family Therapist / Historian
Lisa is a therapist with the Amen Clinic in the beautiful northwest. She obtained a M.A. in Psychology from Western Washington University in 2000. After completing her degree, Lisa worked for seven years with behaviorally challenged children in a group home setting and in private foster care. This work led her to pursue and finish her M.S. degree from Seattle Pacific University in Marriage and Family Therapy.She enjoys helping youth and families find more positive ways to interact, as well as helping the individual children and young adults with issues such as coping skills, life skills, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, attachment issues, life transitions, and PTSD.

Janice Historian
Janice came to Amen Clinics, Inc after working for several years as Assistant Director at an international adoption agency. Prior to that she worked as a Guardian Ad Litem and represented the best interests of children in custody cases. Janice has a Master’s in Sociology from Brandeis University.

Mike Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Michael has been doing Nuclear Medicine for a long time having graduated with honors from the University of Miami program at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida back in the last century. After a year in the field, Mike was to become the Director of that school program which spawned a life-long commitment to teaching others about Nuclear Medicine. He has also received his BA in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Hospital Administration. He holds 3 national certifications and is currently licensed to practice in 5 different states. Michael is also a three-time Past President of the South Florida Society of Nuclear Medicine and has been an Item Writer for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board. He has worked just about every job in the field running the gamut from Director of a large department in Dallas to running a number of successful mobile Nuclear Medicine operations to being a Traveling Technologist in California. He has never lost his desire to work in a high tech atmosphere while helping others achieve a healthier life and the Amen Clinic has certainly provided him with that opportunity. He lives in Tumwater with his wife, Chharvy, and their two children. He is very interested in Gardening and finds the Great Northwest quite a different challenge from his days in the sunshine and warmth of South Florida. He is an avid reader and collects antique nautical books. Mike loves to travel and still makes it back to Miami or Key West every year or so.

Mackenzie Provider Relations/Historian
Mackenzie received a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish, with an interest in pre-nursing and Portuguese, from Western Washington University in 2010. She began her Spanish studies in the Spanish Immersion Program in the Bellevue School District at age 5, and decided to continue for the next 18 years. She recently moved back to her home town, Bellevue, where she loves to walk her dogs, try new cooking recipes, and likes to go shopping! Cindy Patient Care Coordinator
Cindy joined the Amen Clinic in Bellevue as a Patient Care Coordinator in November 2011. Cindy has a Bachelor of Art degree in Sociology from California State University, San Bernardino. Kali Patient Care Coordinator
Kali graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor's of Science in psychology and pre-medical studies. In high school and part of college, Kali wanted to be a clinical psychologists. Later, she realized the medical aspect of healing appealed to her more. Psychiatry, combining her two interests, seemed like a perfect fit. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to work at the Amen Clinics. Kali spends her time running, rock climbing, and playing with her dog. Michelle Patient Care Coordinator
Michelle joined the Amen Clinic in September of 2011 as a Patient Care Coordinator, bringing with her previous experience as a Medical Assistant. A graduate from the Running Start program in High School, she went on to Bellevue College where she earned an Associates of Arts and Sciences Degree with a concentration in Psychology; she is continuing her education, working toward a Nursing degree. A native Seattleite, Michelle is very active and an avid soccer fan and player. If you don't see her in the crowd at a Seattle Sounders game, you'll find her out on the pitch, wreaking havoc on opposing teams.
